The Rise Of Safe Home Foundation
In the year 2020, SHF has built the largest shelter in Madurai city for the stray dogs. We have built our own hospital and hired veterinary doctors & surgeons. Around 20 employees are working in various aspects for the welfare of stray dogs. We have effectively working on all social platforms and creating awareness through online and offline. We are now receiving 50calls a day and average of 7 dogs a day getting admitted for treatments. There are around 120dogs in our shelter permanently who are handicapped & with permanent illness all are treated with at most love and care. We are having separate care takers & medical equipment’s to treat them regularly.
Our Work
Our work with street dogs consists of spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted puppies born into short lives of suffering, along with the rescue, vaccination, medical treatment, sheltering, and adoption of those that cannot be returned to their territory. Every year, SHF spays/neuters and vaccinates thousands of stray dogs throughout madurai. We conduct daily spay and neuter programs all around the city with the tie up of major organisations and individuals. Spay and neuter is the only proven, sustainable and humane method of reducing the stray dog population. To know more about our rescue, spay/neuter, adoption & education programmes kindly click here.
